Unity Southeast in Kansas City

Youth and Family Ministry

Creating an affirming environment that fosters positive self-image, personal responsibility and unconditional love and acceptance.

Our vision is “Centered in God, we celebrate harmony, love and abundance in the world.”.

This vision is the foundation of all lessons and ways of being.

Our intention is to have fun and draw out the wisdom and light in each one of us.

SUNDAY YOUTH SERVICES

Activities begin at 10:30 a.m. with main lesson starting at 11 a.m. in the lower level fellowship hall.

The lessons we provide include prayer, visualization,  affirmations, singing, dancing, games, stories, arts and crafts age appropriate from ages 0 - 18.

Our mission “is not to entertain the children but to call them out. To be always entertained is to be dwarfed and dependent. To be ‘called out’ is to follow the harmonious law of the soul’s unfoldment.”

—Myrtle Fillmore, cofounder of Unity

August 1893

Focus for each Age Group:

Nursery (infant to 3 yrs) -  Care is provided during service, available 15 minutes prior to and following service.   Focus - to understand that they are loved just as they are.

Children (3 to 5) - to help the children understand that they, too, have the spiritual potential to act in ways that bring out their best selves.

Children (6 to 10) - helping children explore how they can let God live through them as an expression of life, love and kindness.

Uniteens (11  to 13 ) -  To know they are inherently good and they have choices as how they can show up in this world.

Youth of Unity (Y.O.U.) (14 to 18) - To be receptive to the idea that God is a mental attitude that works in and through them so they can understand they are the creator of their own world through the thoughts they give power to and what they choose to see and believe.

5 Basic Unity Principles

  1. God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.     (GOD IS)

  2. I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.    (I AM)

  3. I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.    (I THINK)

  4. Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.   (I PRAY)

  5. I do and give my best by living the Truth I know.   (I ACT)
